The Kavanaghs are one of the most important indie rock/ powerpop bands with songs in English from Argentina. The band released their first song as part of the compilation Big Indie Comeback released by the English label Matchbox Recordings. As a result of this they were contacted by several labels, Parlophone UK (The Beatles label) among them.

The Kavanaghs released two albums, The Kavanaghs (2009) and Love Conquers Pain (2011) via Eternal Sunday, the only label specialized in releasing pop music from Argentina sung in English. The Kavanaghs was praised by powerpop legends Jim Bonfanti and Eric Carmen (The Raspberries): “The Beatles, Badfinger and Raspberries fans will love this band […] great melodies and harmonies are still alive”. Most blogs and powerpop critics, including Shindig and Goldmine magazines, gave positive reviews to both albums. In 2010 their song “Hyde Park” was used as the theme song for the Royal Hyde Park Half Marathon held in Hyde Park, London (quite surprising for a band from Argentina).

Apart from the albums, The Kavanaghs released several Christmas singles as free gifts for their fans.

The Kavanaghs toured the UK once (2009) and twice the USA (2010 and 2012). In the UK they performed in several places, the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool among them. In USA they played in several cities, taking part in the IPO (International Pop Overthrow) in Portland, Oregon and Washington DC. They also played in Des Moines, Las Vegas, Cleveland and at the legendary Whisky-A-Gogo in LA. In 2012 they headed one of the nights of the Culture Collide Festival in Los Angeles, organized by Filter Magazine, next to great indie bands like of Montreal and Icona Pop (a band that a year later would reach #1 in the UK chart). Their performance in Culture Collide had good reviews and gained them new fans.

[By the way, there’s no tradition of Argentinean bands with songs in English touring English-speaking countries, The Kavanaghs are total pioneers in this aspect].

While in LA they also recorded several songs with Grammy- winner producer Mark Linett (Beach Boys, Brian Wilson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Los Lobos, Jane’s Addiction).
